According to Fox News, Najibullah Zazi has admitted to having links with Al Qaeda during the questioning.
Zazi, 24, who was not arrested, had been cooperating with FBI and was interviewed several times this week by investigators.
The report quoted U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder as saying that security agencies have been alerted in New York, Denver and other parts of the country, but ruled out any imminent threat.
According to police sources, Zazi rented a car and drove from Denver to New York and then entered Manhattan on September 10.
On Monday, FBI agents and police officers searched three apartments and questioned residents in the Queens neighbourhood where Zazi was staying.
According to investigators, information found on Zazi’s computer might provide a window into what he might have been planning. For example– a text message that said “wedding cake is ready,” which may have been a signal about preparations for an attack.
Earlier, a joint FBI-New York Police Department task force had expressed fears that Zazi might have been part of a potential plot involving hydrogen peroxide-based explosives.
Zazi’s attorney, Arthur Folsom, has repeatedly denied any such claims. (ANI)
