Family of 12 killed in van-truck crash in China (Lead)
August 20th, 2012 - 7:45 pm ICT by IANSBeijing, Aug 20 (IANS) Twelve members of a family were killed Monday when their van collided head-on with a truck near the southwest Chinese metropolis of Chongqing.
The crash occurred at 12.30 p.m. on a road that links the city’s Hechuan and Beibei districts, and also left the truck driver critically injured, Xinhua reported.
Traffic police said the family was on its way home after a trip when the tragedy occurred.
Heavy rain that hit the city early Monday might have been one of the causes of the accident, police said.
