Washington, Mar.24 (ANI): The US fears that future attacks on America are likely to be carried out by Muslims from the UK, and therefore, there is a need to boost surveillance of British Pakistanis. According to Sky News, the CIA is understood to be working alongside British Security Services in an effort to quash what they see as the greatest threat to Homeland Security. Matthew Levitt, the director of the Washington Institute’’s Stein Programme on Counter Terrorism and former FBI investigator, told Sky News: “There is a very acute threat, especially from the South Asian community, which has been radicalised over several decades (and) has direct ties back to South Asia, where the core of al Qaeda is believed to be hiding. Security experts point to the fact that the majority of terrorist plots emanating from within Britain have involved people with ties to Pakistan. Patrick Mercer, Commons Counter-Terrorism Sub-Committee chairman, said those precedents explain the level of monitoring by intelligence agencies. He said: “I have no doubt that American intelligence agencies are deploying their people inside the United Kingdom, to find or to handle British born, or British resident sources. Shokat Lal, Derby Muslim Forum chairman, was quoted by Sky News as saying: “There has been a number of people from within the Muslim community who have gone round telling people that this money is all about community-led intelligence - spying on your own community, rather than actually about doing something positive and constructive.
