New Delhi, Apr 11 (ANI): Exiled Tibetans staged a protest march here against the Beijing Olympics today.
Organized by the Tibetan Youth Congress, the march saw hundreds of young Tibetans participating and shouting anti-China slogans and burning Chinese flags.
The young Tibetans voicing said the Olympics should not be held in Beijing due to Chinas poor track record on human rights.
“We are protesting against the Beijing Olympics and the Olympic torch coming to India, said Tshering Wangale, a Tibetan protestor.
The Olympic flame is scheduled to pass through New Delhi on April 17.
“China should not be permitted to host the Olympics because of the atrocities against Tibetan people, who are being killed and starved. Our brethren in Tibet are not even allowed to recharge their cell phones. We are fighting for justice,” said Choni Sangmo, another Tibetan protestor.
Of the approximately 100,000 exiled Tibetans living in India, over 5,000 live in Delhi alone.
Meanwhile, security in Delhi has been beefed up ahead of the April 17 torch relay. (ANI)
