Ex-Wimbledon king Connors says he can make Murray a champion

London, Apr. 3 (ANI): Former Grand Slam champion Jimmy Connors has claimed that he can reverse top British tennis star Andy Murray’s alarming form slump and convert him into a champion.

“Murray’s smart, he knows how to play the game beyond hitting tennis balls at Mach 5,” the Daily Mail quoted Connors, as saying.

He added: “At times, he’s proved he can beat the best, but the story for me is how he handles what happens next. What does he think he needs to change?” Connors, 58, said that he sees much of himself in Murray, and added that has forgotten more about the game than most have learned.

“Andy’s still a kid, and his best years are in front of him, even though he has already been in the final of the US Open, and two finals at the Australian Open,” he said.

“But it’s important for Andy to understand that you have to grasp - grab - those chances when they come as there’s no knowing when they come around again. If you don’t take advantage of them, before you know it your time has run out,” he added.

Connors had 109 tournament victories, which included eight Grand Slams - Wimbledon twice, the US Open five times, and one Australian Open. (ANI)
