Ex-Miss Russia, in prescription forging bust, arrested for shoplifting in US
April 28th, 2011 - 2:22 pm ICT by ANINew York, Apr 28 (ANI): A former Miss Russia, who was busted for forging prescriptions to get painkillers, has been arrested for shoplifting in a Manhattan clothing store.
Anna Malova, 39, a physician who won the crown in 1998, was caught stealing a pair of sandals and a hat inside Strawberry on E. 14th St., the New York Daily News reported.
She was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny.
Prosecutors said that Malova, who faces 7 years in jail for filching prescription pads to get Vicodin pills, continued to fill prescriptions for painkillers even after she was arrested twice last spring.
Her most recent attempt was at a West Village pharmacy on February 1, when she was supposed to be in rehab.
A Manhattan Supreme Court judge agreed this month to consider a court-supervised drug-rehab program. (ANI)
