Estonia defence ministry attacked
August 11th, 2011 - 9:59 pm ICT by IANSMoscow, Aug 11 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Gunshots were heard Thursday from the Estonian defence ministry building in the capital city Tallinn, police said.
Witnesses said people leaped out of the building’s windows. Police cordoned off the area. A gunman is said to be still inside the building.
A ministry source said the gunman was a former military man. At first, he threatened staff with an explosive device and then opened fire.
The assailant is thought to have taken two hostages and wounded one man.
