England striker Cole to be questioned over girl’s sexual assault
April 9th, 2011 - 1:17 pm ICT by ANILondon, Apr 9 (ANI): England soccer star Carlton Cole, who is a witness to an alleged sexual assault in his hotel room, is set to be questioned by police.
A 22-year-old student has claimed that she was sexually attacked by one of the footballer’s group.
Specially-trained cops had already examined her earlier, and investigating officers with the Met’s specialist Sapphire unit are now looking at CCTV footage, The Sun reports.
However, there is no direct indication that the West Ham star had committed any criminal offence.
The 27-year-old striker had reportedly spent 250 pounds for a room at the W Hotel in London’s Leicester Square last Saturday.
“It was a night on the town with several friends and Cole invited them back for late-night drinks. Everyone crashed out and then something obviously happened. When everyone woke, she was extremely upset,” the paper quoted a source, as saying.
This is not the first time Cole has been caught up in a sex controversy. In 2003, he was arrested and questioned over the “roasting” of a 17-year-old girl.
She had claimed that she was raped and sexually assaulted by three men, but the case was dropped due to a lack of evidence. (ANI)
