Elizabeth Smart trial to begin today with the jury selection

Salt Lake City, Nov 1 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The trial of the man who is accused of kidnapping Elizabeth Smart some eight years ago has started with the selection of the jury. The jury selection will start today in the federal trial that has been long awaited. If convicted, the accused, Brian David Mitchell could spend the rest of his life behind bars.
He was indicted on federal charges of kidnapping and unlawful transportation of a child between states in March 2008. Brian allegedly sneaked into the room of the 14 year old Smart some eight years ago and kidnapped her in the middle of the night. He held the little girl captive until Smart was rescued some years later after the kidnapping. Her rescue resulted in the arrest of Brian and he was subsequently charged with kidnapping and transportation between states unlawfully.
The trial will no doubt help Smart to put the case behind her after all these years. Seeing justice finally taking its course will help heal her of the trauma will went through when she was kidnapped some eight years ago. Her father expressed the same sentiment when he revealed to Pople.com that Smart will want to put that part of her life behind her and move on.
