Eight Taliban killed in Afghanistan

Kabul, May 6 (IANS) Eight Taliban militants have been killed during joint operations of Afghan forces and NATO troops in various Afghan provinces, the interior ministry said Sunday.
“Afghan police, army and coalition forces launched eight joint cleanup operations in Kunar, Faryab, Kandahar, Nimroz, Zabul, Ghazni, Paktia and Farah provinces, killing eight armed Taliban insurgents within past 24 hours,” Xinhua quoted the ministry as saying.
Two militants were injured and 15 others detained by joint forces, the statement added, without stating if there were any casualties on the side of security forces.
