‘Dying’ US man gives engagement ring to wife after 65 years of marriage
April 16th, 2011 - 6:47 pm ICT by ANIWashington, Apr 16 (ANI): A 97-year-old Massachusetts man has been able to fulfill his lifelong dream to give his beloved wife the diamond ring he could never afford.
A few weeks ago, Everett Potter, also known as Pops, enrolled in a hospice program at the Wayland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where he and his wife of 65 years, Betty, live.
Pops’ health is failing and doctors do not give him much time. But there is one thing he always wished he had done, reports Fox News.
Pops and Betty renewed their vows in Milford, N.H. — where they were wed — and Pops presented her with a diamond wedding ring.
“I never gave her one,’” Pops said. “I was saving money.’”
Life Choice Hospice offers patients a final wish. The center and the hospice purchased a .40-carat solitaire with 14-carat yellow gold mounting for him. (ANI)
