Dubai Ports World joins US security initiativeJune 11th, 2008 - 11:25 am ICT by IANS
Dubai, June 11 (IANS) The United Arab Emirates-based marine terminal operator Dubai Ports World (DP World) has been certified as a partner in the Customs-Trade Partnership against Terrorism (C-TPAT) initiative by US Customs and Border Patrol, WAM news agency reported Wednesday. The certification is based on DP World’s compliance with the ISO 28000 security standards. DP World was the first global maritime terminal operator to achieve ISO 28000 certification.
“We are proud to be part of the C-TPAT initiative and to have achieved certification for all our terminals. It is recognition once again of our commitment to maintaining and managing high levels of security standards and procedures at our terminals,” said DP World CEO Mohammed Sharaf.
“This important validation provides DP World’s customers with C-TPAT benefits, including priority clearance of containers, training and sharing of information, which will help the efficient flow of goods to market,” he added.
DP World is also part of the US government’s Container Security Initiative (CSI), under which US customs officers based in 14 DP World terminals inspect containers bound for the US.
