Dubai, Dec 15 (ANI): The Brit couple, who were sentenced to a three-month suspended imprisonment for having sex on the Jumeirah beach in Dubai, have turned themselves in to serve their time.
Vince Acors, 34, and Michelle Palmer, 36, are currently being detained at Dubai’’s Central Prison after they paid 1,000 Dirhams as fine, at noon on December 14.
The Dh 1,000 fine was for taking alcohol, and it was upheld by presiding Judge Mohammad Abdul Aziz Hafez, who also confirmed the couple’’s deportation order.
The two, who were found guilty of indulging in sexual activity and committing public indecency, had turned themselves in to the Criminal Rulings” Execution Section at the Public Prosecution, their legal advisor Hasan Mattar revealed.
The couple and I are still negotiating whether to lodge a petition to cancel their deportation order at the Attorney General’’s office. They handed themselves in and paid their fine, the Gulf News quoted Mattar as saying.
Sources have also told the paper that the two have been taken to the Central Prison in Al Awir pending the implementation of the deportation order. (ANI)
