Drunken ex-Premier League footballer jailed for breaking man’s jaw outside casino
March 25th, 2011 - 4:18 pm ICT by ANILondon, Mar 25 (ANI): Former Premier League footballer Kelvin Etuhu has been jailed for eight months after pleading guilty to breaking a man’s jaw following a 2010 brawl outside a casino.
The 22-year-old ex-Manchester City striker had attacked Owen Fitzpatrick following a dispute in the Manchester 235 casino on February 28 last year.
The footballer was caught on camera kicking the victim three times on the ground, after punching him on the face that broke his jaw, the Daily Mail reports.
Etuhu had earlier pleaded guilty at Manchester Crown Court to actual bodily harm and affray, and was sentenced by Judge David Hale on Thursday.
The court was earlier told that Etuhu had been released from his contract at Manchester City because of the criminal proceedings against him.
Peter Cadwallader, for the prosecution, told the court that the incident resulted from a ‘very minor’ dispute inside the casino, wherein Fitzpatrick and two of his other friends were asked to leave the venue. The trio then waited outside the casino for Etuhu and his friend Rico Richards to come out.
The footballer, who was drunk, came out of the casino a short time later, and “completely lost the plot”, Cadwallader added. (ANI)
