Dog and owner aiming for worlds longest volleyball rallyJanuary 23rd, 2008 - 5:33 pm ICT by admin
Wellington, Jan 23 (ANI): A man and his dog are training to set a world record for the longest volleyball rally between a canine and a human.
Richard Burdes, 33, and his dog Summer a six-year-old border collie-huntaway cross are very keen on getting their name added in the Guinness World Records in Britain.
“She’s a working dog so she’s used to exercising. She faces me about three or four metres apart and she knocks it back with her nose, Stuff.co.nz quoted Burdes, as saying.
“As long as I get it to her, she will get it back,” he added.
Burdes said he had not had to do much training. Rather, it was a God-given talent for Summer.
“I sort of came across it by accident,” he said.
“We’ve got a lightweight kid’s bouncy ball and she could just bang it back. We’ve been practising at parks and been getting good results.
“We go as long as we can. About 30 is our best at the moment, but we’re hard at training - we’re going to go longer, he added.
No record exists for man-dog volleyball rallies so Burdes has put in a bid to Guinness World Records.
“I’m waiting to hear back and then we should be good to go in four to six weeks. We’ll just be practising until that stage. I’m aiming for a rally of about 50, he said. (ANI)
