Di wanted second marriage only as much as “a rash on the face”

London, Dec 18 (ANI): Diana, Princess of Wales was as eager for a second marriage as a ‘rash on the face’, and was only with Dodi to make her real love interest, Pakistani heart surgeon Hasnat Khan, jealous, the inquest into her death has heard.

The news comes from Lady Annabel Goldsmith socialite and heiress Jemima Khans mother, and a close confidante of Dianas.

Lady Annabel was questioned as to whether or not Diana was set to marry her beau Dodi Al Fayed.

The socialite told the jury at the Royal Courts of Justice in London that Diana discussed matrimony with her when she came to stay at her home a week before she died in the fatal car crash in Paris, reports the Telegraph.

During the conversation, she told Lady Annabel: “Annabel, I need marriage like a rash on the face.”

This was in reply to Lady Annabels query about whether Diana was likely to do anything silly like getting married after seeing photographs of her and Dodi together in the south of France splashed across newspapers.

Lady Annabel also told the inquest that in her view, Diana was still “on the rebound” from her failed relationship with heart surgeon Dr Hasnat Khan, and that she was using Dodi to make him “jealous”.

She admitted that Diana was having a “wonderful” time with Dodi. Dianas comments however, gave her the impression that the royal was “not serious” about the idea of marriage.

Dodis father Mohammed Al Fayed has insisted that the couples death was no accident, and that it was an establishment plot because they were about to announce their engagement.

She also said that it was “impossible” that Diana was pregnant at the time of the accident, another thing Mr Fayed has maintained. This is due to the fact that Diana menstruated just 10 days before the crash.

When questioned about Dianas letters to “Darling Dodi”, Lady Annabel said the royal always wrote “very effusive letters” and the language used in the notes was “typical Diana”.

Asked about Dianas relationship with Dr Khan, Lady Annabel replied: “She was in love with Hasnat Khan.”

She was also questioned by Michael Mansfield, QC, representing Mohammed Fayed, about whether she knew why Diana changed her mobile phone number often.

“She never told you that her fear was that she was being bugged?” he said.

Lady Annabel said she had not been informed of this, and had assumed that Diana changed numbers to avoid calls from unwanted people.

The inquest continues. (ANI)
