Dhoni leads India to series win in New Zealand (Statistical highlights)

Ross Taylor Wellington, April 7 (IANS) Mahendra Singh Dhoni led India to its first series win in
New Zealand after 41 years here Tuesday.

India last won a Test series here in 1968 under the captaincy of Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.

India’s 1-0 win is their 13th overseas series triumph.

India now have won five Tests each in New Zealand, England and Australia.

Other highlights of the third Test.

# The drawn Test between New Zealand and India at Basin Reserve here is the first between the two countries. New Zealand have won four and India one.

# India have posted ODI as well as Test series wins in the same season for the first time against New Zealand in New Zealand.

# Under Dhoni’s captaincy, India have won five out of seven Tests. The remaining two Tests were drawn.

# Ross Taylor (107 off 165 balls) posted his fourth hundred - his second against India.

# Taylor has registered his third century in New Zealand.

# In the series, Taylor became the third player to score two centuries, joining Jesse Ryder and Gautam Gambhir.

# Gambhir received his first MOM award against New Zealand - his second in Tests.

# Harbhajan Singh was the top wicket-taker in the series - 16 at an average of 21.37.

# James Franklin and Ross Taylor shared a partnership of 142 for the fifth wicket, which is New Zealand’s highest against India, surpassing the 140 between Craig McMillan and Adam Parore at Hamilton in January 1999.

# Dravid, with three catches in New Zealand’s second innings, became the fourth Indian fielder to do so at Basin Reserve, joining Ajit Wadekar, V. Subramanya and Dilip Vengsarkar.
