Dhaka audience better than in Kolkata: Manna Dey
February 16th, 2009 - 11:37 am ICT by IANSDhaka, Feb 16 (IANS) Indian singer Manna Dey says the Dhaka audience is better than that in Kolkata, which makes him come to the Bangladesh capital more often.
“As the Bangladeshi listeners are better than the Kolkata audience, I come here off and on,” he said on the eve of his performance here.
Dey is here with Haimanti Shukla to perform at a luxury hotel, a media report said Monday.
“I will try to render all my popular songs,” said the octogenarian singer, who sings in several languages.
“I have been singing for 60 years. I have learnt to sing in all the spoken languages of India. But I am very conscious about pronunciation,” Dey said.
He also said he would request Haimanti to perform some duets with him.
Speaking about Bangladeshi singers, he said: “I love to listen to Rezwana Chowdhury Banya.”
Haimanti said: “I have come to Bangladesh many times. But this visit is special to me as I am accompanied by Manna da.”
Embrasure Films Inc and Priyonti Edit and Effects have organised the two Manna Dey nights to raise funds for poor students, New Age newspaper said.
