London, Feb. 5 (ANI): Despite losing many sponsors in the wake of the surfacing of his affairs with 19 women, Tiger Woods is still the world’s top athlete brand, according to Forbes magazine. In its second annual list, the business magazine estimated that Woods still represents the top sports brand by an athlete, with an estimated value of 82 million dollars, The Telegraph reports.
According to the magazine, Woods’ remaining sponsor deals with Nike Inc, Electronic Arts Inc and Procter & Gamble Co’s Gillette brand will allow him to remain the world’s highest paid athlete this year.
Woods, who has taken an indefinite break from professional golf, has not been seen in public since admitting in December that he had cheated on his wife, Elin Nordegren.
His total earnings were larger than that of the next five athletes combined, according to Forbes.
Footballer David Beckham (20 million dollars), tennis star Roger Federer (16 million dollars), NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. (14 million dollars) and National Basketball Association stars LeBron James and Kobe Bryant (13 million dollars and 12 million dollars, respectively) rounded out the top six.
While Nike and others have stood by Woods, Accenture Plc and AT&T Inc dropped him as their pitch man after he became engulfed in allegations of multiple extramarital affairs following a minor car accident outside his Florida home on Nov 27. (ANI)
