Democrat to request for Cabinet’s resolutions on Preah Vihear

July 9th, 2008 - 2:12 pm ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi

Spokesman of the Democrat party Ong-art Klampaiboon (องอาจ คล้ามไพบูลย์) says the party will submit a letter to the secretary-general for the Cabinet to request for the Cabinet’s resolutions on the Preah Vihear issue on June 17th and 24th.

The spokesman says the party has cast doubts over the Cabinet’s resolutions on the issue and it is gathering signatures of one in four of members of the parliament to remove Foreign Affairs Minister Noppadon Pattama from his post. Apart from the minister, there are other people who the party will launch a campaign to remove and it is gathering information about their actions in the Preah Vihear matter, the spokesman says.

Mr Ong-art also says the Democrat party disagrees with a parliament dissolution as the parliament’s work do not have flaws which deserves a parliament dissolution. Moreover, the spokesman requests the prime minister to show responsibility on the Preah Vihear matter and announce the government’s actions against the foreign affairs minister. He affirms the Democrat party does not use the Preah Vihear matter to pave way for its plan to form a government.
