Demining team abducted in Afghanistan
December 9th, 2010 - 9:21 pm ICT by IANSKabul, Dec 9 (IANS) Eighteen members of a demining team were abducted Thursday in eastern Afghanistan’s Khost province, reports Xinhua.
“Unknown men stopped a group of deminers travelling in a truck in Musa Khil district and kidnapped the 18,” provincial police chief Abdul Hakim Isaqzai said.
He said the men were working for Mine Detection Centre (MDC), an NGO active in clearing mines and unexploded explosive devices. The kidnappers drove away the truck used by the deminers.
