Dawood Ibrahim’s aide arrested

Lucknow, Oct 8 (IANS) A henchman of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim was arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Ambedkar Nagar district Friday, police said.

Firoz Shekh alias Dawat was nabbed by sleuths of the Special Task Force (STF) in Alapur area, some 150 km from Lucknow.

According to STF officials, Shekh was assigned with the responsibility of luring young men to join the D-company.

“Shekh, a native of Mumbai, was living in eastern regions of Uttar Pradesh for the last several days. He used to offer a good amount of money to youths, asking them to join the D-company,” said an STF official.

Several criminal cases are pending against Shekh in various police stations of Mumbai, where he also used to extort money from builders on Dawood Ibrahim’s directions.

“Shekh has provided vital clues that will help us nab other aides of Dawood Ibrahim from the state,” the STF official added.
