Barack Obama Washington, Mar.7 (ANI): Former Mexico Governor Bill Richardson has said that a “dark horse candidate” will be the most formidable challenge to President Barack Obama in 2012 elections.

He said: “A dark horse candidate that is strong with their conservative base, that is articulate, that’s attractive” will challenge Obama in the upcoming elections.

Richardson, who pursued the Democratic nomination in 2008, said that he was betting on Senator John Thune before he took himself out of the GOP nomination race.

Richardson predicted that Republicans would choose someone “sort of the way Lamar Alexander was years ago”, The Politico reports.

The senator, unsuccessfully contested for the Republican presidential nomination, disputed recent polls that show Donald Trump leading the crowded field of would-be 2012 contenders.

Richardson said: “Tim Pawlenty has a much better chance than Donald Trump.” (ANI)
