Aug 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Sunday the Suffolk County district attorney’s office confirmed to media sources that Philip Markoff or the “Craigslist killer” has killed himself in his cell. The authorities said that Philip Markoff was alone in his cell on Sunday morning when he was found unresponsive. He was declared dead by the concerned authorities at around 10:15 a.m. Although the exact manner of the death of Philip Markoff is yet not known, some media sources have claimed that authorities have found shoelace marks on his neck.
A former medical student of the Boston University, Philip Markoff was arrested last year for the alleged murder of a masseuse and also in connection to an armed robbery of a Las Vegas woman. He was kept on suicide watch at the Boston’s Nashua Street Jail. A statement released on Sunday by the Suffolk County district attorney’s office held that the primary investigation into the matter indicates that Philip Markoff took his own life. The district attorney however said that although all the evidences collected thus far indicate that Philip Markoff had killed himself, the office will conduct investigation to determine the facts and circumstances surrounding the death of the Craigslist killer.
The death of Philip Markoff, who was awaiting trial at the court has left his lawyer John Salsberg saddened and shocked. The news has also left the family of the Jullissa Brisman, of whose murder Philip Markoff was accused, “shocked and dismayed”. Boston attorney Djuna Perkins mentioned to media sources through an e-mail that the family of Jullissa Brisman was looking forward to the trial as it was their only opportunity to confront Philip Markoff.
