Washington, September 6, 2010 (Just Flashed): Craigslist happens to be a prominent American website. It has now discontinued (obstructed) its “adult services’ segment in America. The rationale behind the discontinuation is that the attorneys general in 17 American states remonstrated that the Internet site encouraged prostitution.

The “adult services’ segment was substituted by the word “censored’ early on Saturday with a dormant link for the American Internet consumers. This data has been reported by CNN.

The CEO of Craigslist happens to be Jim Buckmaster and its originator is Craig Newmark. The attorneys general had released a communication to these two individuals a few days back. The communication mentioned that the gradually amplifying and piercing public excoriation of Craiglist’s “Adult Services’ section mirrors a mounting recognition that the advertisements espousing prostitution are unbridled on Craigslist. These advertisements even consist of trafficking kids.

A spokesperson related to Craigslist named Susan MacTavish asserted that Craiglist concurred with some data in the letter. She divulged that Craigslist robustly endorsed the yearning of the attorneys general to stop trafficking in kids and ladies via the Internet or by any other way.

CNN had remarked that one of its correspondents positioned a false advertisement in the “adult services’ segment in May and obtained 15 calls seeking sex within three hours.

The detectives have voiced that the purported “Craigslist assassin,’ Philip Markoff, detected his female prey after she installed an advertisement on the abovementioned site. Markoff had perpetrated suicide in jail in August while in anticipation of a trial for his involvement in the case of the fortified mugging and slaughter of Julissa Brisman in a restaurant in Boston in April 2009.
