Couture fashion is the latest style mantra for French ministers

London, Feb 17 (ANI): Fashion is no longer a talk only in the glitterati world, for even the French ministers are smitten by the idea of looking glamorous and are trying really hard to fit in the shoes.

Eager to look their best wherever they go, the female ministers of France are beating a path to the doors of world-renowned designers like - Dior, Chanel and Yves Saint-Laurent.

“We are close to the system which prevails at the Cannes Film Festival with the stars,” the Telegraph quoted Paris designer Nathalie Garcon, as saying.

Garcon has been lending her chic, flatteringly cut jackets to Rachida Dati, the French cabinet’s justice minister, for quite some time now.

Dati, after a brief dalliance with Chanel and Yves Saint-Laurent, now prefers Dior. Like French President Nicolas Sarkozy, she is a regular visitor to Dior’s luxury boutique on the exclusive Avenue Montaigne, a venue frequented by the international jet set.

“Talking fashion for politicians was always considered to be frivolous and feminine. It’s a French problem, inherited from our Judaeo-Christian guilt complex,” opined Franck Boclet, designer for fashion house Emmanuel Ungaro Homme.

The cabinet’s new catwalk habits have drawn mixed reaction from the French public, where some are happy with the change while the others prefer the sober look. (ANI)
