Couple at loggerheads in UK high court over furniture, empty paint pots!
November 20th, 2009 - 3:09 pm ICT by ANILondon, Nov 20 (ANI): A wealthy couple turned to High Court in the UK to decide how to divide the 500,000-pound house they once shared.
Robin Williams and her ex-partner Anthony Hull are asking the High Court to settle the matter after they failed to agree on who should retain the cheese grater, a 5-pound lampshade, net curtains and even some empty paint pots.
Employment solicitor Williams, 50, and Hull, 49, a financial consultant, bought their detached home in Kingsfold, West Sussex, in 2000.
But after splitting up two years ago, the pair have been unable to agree on who owns what portion of the house, and the division of its contents.
Documents submitted to the court showed how, in a series of letters, they argued over whether or not paint pots in the garage, net curtains and lampshades were “joint property”.
They also rowed about a 499-pound telescope, which Williams said she bought as a present for Hull, reports The Daily Express.
The former Liberal Democrat councillor responded by saying he had never asked for one.
However, at the High Court, Hull scored an early victory in the legal war when Justice Arnold found in his favour on a preliminary matter.
He ruled that a “without prejudice” letter he wrote to Williams in October 2007 could not be cited in evidence at the full hearing of the case. (ANI)
