Cops guarding Berlusconi’s Sardinian holiday villa arrest snappers
August 13th, 2009 - 5:04 pm ICT by ANILondon, Aug 13 (ANI): Three paparazzi photographers were arrested at gunpoint by armed police guarding the Sardinian holiday villa of Silvio Berlusconi.
The photographers, all Italian, were caught taking pictures of the sprawling holiday complex.
After being surprised by paramilitary Carabinieri officers, the snappers were forced to hand over the memory cards in their cameras.
The snaps showed officers standing on a concrete jetty guarding the prime minister as he made his way onto a luxury yacht at his retreat on Sardinia’s exclusive Costa Smeralda, reports The Telegraph.
“They told me to come out with my hands up,” one of the photographers, Corrado Calvo, told Corriere della Sera newspaper.
“They pointed their submachine guns at me,” the photog added.
Berlusconi was reportedly furious that the paparazzi were trying to take photos of him, his family and other guests at his multi-million pound retreat, Villa Certosa, where he is spending his summer holiday. (ANI)
