Condoleezza Rice ‘won’t chirp’ in private meeting with Obama in White House

Washington, Oct 15 (ANI): Condoleezza Rice, the former Secretary of State and national security adviser in former US President George W. Bush’s government, is scheduled to hold a private meeting with Barack Obama in the Oval office to discuss “a range of foreign-policy issues,” according to a White House spokesman, Tommy Vietor.
The Washington Post quoted Vietor, as saying that the decision to hold a first meeting between the duo in the Oval Office has come about because of Rice’s presence in Washington.
Rice, who is on a book tour with a memoir about her parents, seemed very cautious while interacting with journalists, and avoided criticising the present government and its officials.
One being asked what she would be doing differently if she were in office, Rice said: “I am not going to chirp at the people inside. I know that it’s a lot easier out here than it is in there, and these are patriotic people who are trying to do their best every day. They don’t need me chirping at them.”
“I think that things are not easy. This is a really tough time for the United States, a tough time for our world, but people are doing their best,” she added.
Rice, whose book addresses her upbringing, and not her time in the White House, said she chose to write first about her childhood because she wanted people “to know that I didn’t somehow come full-blown from the head of Medusa.” (ANI)
