Challenger AstronautsJan 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) As the Kennedy Space Center commemorated the 25th anniversary of the Challenger disaster, the scenario at Concord High School was no different. A special assembly was held at the school in the memory of Christa McAuliffe, one of its teacher who intended to create history by becoming the first schoolteacher and ordinary citizen to land on space. However, her dream of being the first ordinary citizen on space was cut short after the shuttle exploded just 73 seconds after taking off way back on January 28, 1986.

The catastrophe who claimed the lives of all the seven astronauts on board still remains one of the biggest failures that NASA had to come across in its history. While on the 25th anniversary of the tragedy, NASA renewed its vow of not losing out to the fear of failure to examine the exact boundaries of the space exploration, at the Concord High School, a special presentation was held to remember Christa McAuliffe at the school’s auditorium which has been named after her. The large number of students who had gathered at the venue, were provided with a better understanding of the Concord teacher who lost his life along with six other crew members aboard Challenger on the fateful day.

Apart from the school students who attended the presentation, the event to mark the demise of the aspiring astronaut was also graced by a number of state officials who remembered Christa McAuliffe and the manner in which she inspires her students as well as people all across the nation till date.
