Colombian police seize two tonnes of cocaine
October 14th, 2009 - 6:59 am ICT by IANSBogota, Oct 14 (DPA) Police seized two tonnes of cocaine in a ranch in northwestern Colombia and arrested a minor who was guarding the load, the authorities said Tuesday.
The raid took place over the weekend in a rural area in the municipality of Necocli, in the province of Antioquia. The drugs were found near the Gulf of Uraba, through which they were allegedly to be shipped out of the country.
Police said they further destroyed two camps used by members of the gang, where a minor was found in possession of a gun.
Colombia is the world’s top producer of cocaine, according to the UN.
