Colombian police seize 1.5 tonnes of cocaine
January 4th, 2011 - 12:04 pm ICT by IANSBogota, Jan 4 (IANS/EFE) Colombian police have seized 1.5 tonnes of cocaine worth $45 million and bound for the US, an official said.The seized drug was hidden in containers at a dock in northern Cartagena city. “The drug would have shipped to Honduras and then to the Dominican Republic, and from there to the US,” Gen. Oscar Naranjo, head of the Colombian police, told reporters Monday.
No arrests have been made so far but the cocaine belonged to the Los Urabenos drug trafficking group, Naranjo said, adding that the group operates from the country’s Caribbean provinces.
