Coldplay launches online competition for wannabes

London, June 27 (IANS) The British band Coldplay has launched an online competition to give hopefuls a chance to play an opening set when they tour the US soon. Ananova.com reports that Chris Martin and Co. have opened internet doors of Coldplay HQ inviting bands to upload their songs to YouTube and fill out a form as well. The band revealed the plan on its MySpace page saying the winning band will get to perform in Chicago, San Jose, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and Boston.

The band is presently enjoying the success of their latest album “Viva La Vida” as it hit No.1 both in Britain and the US.
