Cocaine shipment for football fans seized in Peru
June 10th, 2010 - 12:02 pm ICT by IANSLima, June 10 (IANS/EFE) Over one tonne of cocaine meant for football fans in South Africa, where the world cup starts this week, has been seized in Peru, police said.
The consignment containing 1,162 kg of the narcotic was found inside a container packed with fibreglass in Callao port, they said.
Two men have been arrested in this connection.
Peru is second only to Colombia in cocaine production, according to UN statistics.
