Coalition forces kill 11 militants in Afghanistan
December 31st, 2008 - 6:43 pm ICT by IANSKabul, Dec 31 (Xinhua) At least 11 militants were killed during an offensive by the US-led coalition forces in Afghanistan’s Kabul province, a coalition statement said Wednesday.The operation launched Tuesday in Surobi district targeted a senior commander of the Hizb-e-Islami Gulbuddin (HIG) network wanted for trafficking weapons and fighters, the statement said.
Coalition forces engaged the militants and called in close-air precision munitions, killing 11 of them, the statement said, adding that no civilian casualties were reported.
The forces also recovered a huge cache of arms and amunitions from the site during the search operation following the gun battle.
