Clinton has delivered tough warning to Pakistan: Daily
October 22nd, 2011 - 12:31 pm ICT by IANSIslamabad, Oct 22 (IANS) US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has delivered a tough warning to Pakistan that it needs to decide whether it wants to “help or hinder” the US-led war against terror, said a Pakistani daily Saturday.
An editorial in the News International said that Clinton visited Pakistan “on a mission to repair ties” that were ruptured by allegations of complicity with militants and threats of unilateral action.
Clinton delivered the tough warning to the Pakistani leadership, saying it was time for Islamabad to decide “whether it would help or hinder the US-led war against militants”.
She, however, put to rest the speculations about the possible US troops build-up on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border along North Waziristan. She said there would be no ground offensive against Pakistan under any circumstances.
It went on to say “that the top leaders of the CIA, the US military and the State Department, all met with a whole range of Pakistani leaders is a new way of packaging the message to Pakistan and to say that they expect the Pakistani government, military and intelligence services to take the lead in finding a solution to the Afghan conflict and in fighting militants based within it”.
