Clinton cancels trip for mother’s illness
November 1st, 2011 - 8:49 pm ICT by IANSWashington, Nov 1 (IANS) US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has cancelled a scheduled trip to Britain and Turkey after her mother fell ill, an official said.
A State Department official said Clinton was scheduled to attend a conference on Afghanistan in Istanbul Nov 2, with a stopover in London for talks with her British Foreign Secretary William Hague, CNN reported.
No details of her mother’s illness were disclosed.
Dorothy Rodham made occasional appearances with Clinton during her Democratic presidential bid in 2008. She also made trips with the Clintons during their years in the White House, including a 2000 visit to India and a 1998 trip to China.
