Church thief hit on head by falling saint statue!
November 22nd, 2010 - 5:41 pm ICT by ANIBerlin, Nov 22 (ANI): A thief, who attempted to steal a church donation box in Munich, was hit on the head by a falling statue of a saint.
St Benno Church priest Fr Ludwig Sperrer said the man suffered a nasty cut on the head and fled the scene without the donation box, reports The Local.
He said the nearly life-size statue of Saint Antonius might have tumbled from its wooden base as the thief was trying to break open the donation box attached to the same structure.
“He obviously did not want to let it go,” said Fr Sperrer.
Despite the statue’s intervention, the thief did not change his ways.
He went to a nearby house to ask for help for his bleeding head, and his female accomplice stole a wallet left lying on the counter. (ANI)
