London, Aug 3(IANS) American actress Christina Applegate has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The actress is expected to make a full recovery after early detection of cancer during a regular MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan, reports Contactmusic.com.
“Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. Benefiting from early detection through a doctor ordered MRI, the cancer is not life threatening,” her representative Ame Van Iden confirmed in a statement.
“Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery,” she added.
Applegate, who made her name on Fox’s breakthrough show “Married… with Children” as blonde teenager Kelly Bundy, had already agreed to star in a cancer benefit “Stand Up To Cancer” on several US networks Sep 5 before her condition was revealed.
Applegate is also set to compete in next month’s Emmy Awards, after receiving a nomination for the best lead actress in the comedy series “Samantha Who?”
