Beijing, July 24 (IANS) Interested in climbing trees, but don’t know how? Help is at hand. A Chinese university is now offering a class that would train students to “move smoothly among trees”.

The Xiamen university in southeastern Fujian province will teach students how to climb trees, reported Shanghai Daily.

The university said it has started to look for the proper tree-climbing venue, and the class would train students to “move smoothly among the trees” as well as teach them survival skills.

“Many US universities have opened this selective class, which greatly inspired our headmaster during his US tour,” Lin Jianhua, a professor, told Xiamen Economic Daily.

“We will ensure the students’ safety with the assistance of equipments,” he assured.

The class has received mixed reviews.

A netizen said: “It’s great! Students can improve their physical quality as well as learn survival skills.”

Some protested, saying the process would damage the environment.
