Beijing, June 27 (IANS) A Chinese Navy training vessel was on a three-day goodwill visit to Canada, a media report said Wednesday.

The vessel was received by some 300 members of the Chinese community and high-ranking Canadian officers after it arrived in Halifax Monday, People’s Daily reported.

Ship commander Liao Shining, also deputy chief of staff of the navy, said the purpose of the visit was to promote “world harmony” and friendship between the two countries.

Canada was the seventh stop of Zhenghe’s five-month global voyage, which started from China’s northeastern port city of Dalian in mid-April.
