Chinese police retrieve $140 mn in illegal fundraising
December 30th, 2011 - 7:01 am ICT by IANSBeijing, Dec 30 (IANS) Chinese police have retrieved 887 million yuan ($140 million) in a crackdown on illegal fundraising, the public security ministry said Thursday.
The ongoing operation is focused on fraudulent fundraising, illegal appropriation of public deposits and loan sharking, among others, the ministry said.
It has vowed to mobilize more police to curb illegal fundraising in the country, Xinhua reports.
