Chinese fishing vessel returns with 22 men short
August 13th, 2011 - 5:31 pm ICT by IANSBeijing, Aug 13 (IANS) Twentytwo fishermen were missing after a fishing vessel was pulled back to a port in east China’s Shandong province, police said Saturday.
“Major crimes” occurred on the vessel during its trip, the Rongcheng Public Security Bureau said in a statement.
Lurongyu 2682 lost contact with its parent company June 18 near the coast of Chile. It was found July 25 just east of North Korea and was pulled back to shore on Friday by a ship from China’s fishery administration, Xinhua cited the bureau as saying.
Thirtythree crew members were onboard when the vessel left port in December, but only 11 came back, it said.
