Chinese actor arrested for attacking policeman
December 14th, 2011 - 9:07 pm ICT by IANSBeijing, Dec 14 (IANS) A Chinese actor, who played an intelligence agent in a popular TV show, has been arrested for attacking a police officer 13 years ago, officials said Wednesday.
Ji Siguang alias Zhang Guofeng has performed in more than 30 popular TV dramas, including the hit “Lurk”, Xinhua reported.
He was arrested in Jinhua city in Zhejiang province while playing the role of a Buddhist monk for a costumed drama, police said.
The actor is accused of assaulting a police officer and then taking the officer’s gun in 1998. He eluded police by fleeing to Beijing and other cities while still earning his living as an actor, police said.
