China will set 7% annual growth from 2011 to 2015: Jiabao
February 27th, 2011 - 1:14 pm ICT by ANIBeijing, Feb.27 (ANI): The Chinese government plans to set its annual Gross Domestic Product target at seven percent for the period of 2011-2015, to raise the quality of growth and to improve the country’s standard of living.
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao conducted an online chat with two state news portals in Beijing namely www.gov.cn of the central government and www.xinhuanet.com of the Xinhua News Agency, where he answered the questions raised by netizens.
Wen said: “We’ll never seek high economic growth rate and big size at the price of environment, as that would result in unsustainable growth featuring industrial overcapacity and intensive resource consumption”, The Xinhua reported.
He said that government would give more importance to efficiency, environment protection and people’s standard of living.
He added that the government would also adopt new criteria for evaluating the performance of local governments.
He also said that he hopes to see reunification of China through the joint efforts of the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
“I hope that, through the joint efforts of the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, we will see an integrated and reunited China, and that a complete painting will be placed together forever”, he said.
He said this while answering a question related to the legendary Chinese painting “Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains”.
The painting was burned into two in a fire in 1650. Both the parts will be displayed together in an exhibition starting in June in Taiwan. (ANI)
