China to build satellite for Belarus
September 20th, 2011 - 12:18 pm ICT by IANSBeijing, Sep 20 (IANS) China will build and launch a communications satellite for Belarus, following signing of a contract between the two countries in Minsk, China Daily reported Tuesday.
According to China Great Wall Industry Corp, a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, the satellite is the seventh in-orbit delivery contract that China has signed, but the first with a European client.
“The contract with Belarus marks China’s expansion of satellite in-orbit delivery service to the European market,” said Yin Liming, president of China Great Wall Industry Corp, the only one in China authorised to conduct commercial launches for international customers.
