China says faces no immediate threat from Japan nuke plant’s radioactive leaks
March 22nd, 2011 - 2:44 pm ICT by ANIBeijing, Mar 22 (ANI): The radioactive leaks from Japan’s earthquake-cum-tsunami hit Fukushima nuclear plant will not have any impact on China over the next three days.
The Xinhua news agency quoted a latest weather forecast by an emergency response center in Beijing that is affiliated with the World Meteorological Organization and the International Atomic Energy Agency, as saying that China would remain unaffected by radioactive materials during the next three days.
The State Oceanic Administration also said that the organisation did not detect any abnormal radiation in the seawater off the Chinese coast, and announced that the waters will not be affected by radioactive fallout in the next three days as the current off the coast of Fukushima flows south slowly.
The air-monitoring results across the country have also been found to be normal, the statement said.
The Chinese National Nuclear Emergency Coordination Committee has said that the impact of the tsunami in Japan’s nuclear plant has not affected Beijing’s environment or the Chinese people’s health as of now.
Experts from the China Atomic Energy Authority have also claimed that the situation has become stable in the troubled nuclear power plant, which was hit by an earthquake and tsunami on March 11 this year. (ANI)
