China launches new communication satellite
June 21st, 2011 - 9:14 am ICT by IANSBeijing, June 21 (IANS) China successfully launched a new communication satellite early Tuesday, officials said.
The Zhongxing-10 was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in Sichuan province at 0.13 a.m., Xinhua reported.
It was carried by the Long March-3B carrier rocket.
The control centre said the satellite successfully separated from the carrier rocket and entered Earth’s orbit as scheduled, 26 minutes after the launch.
The Zhongxing-10 was designed and manufactured by the China Academy of Space Technology.
It will provide communication, broadcasting and data transmission services for users in China and the Asia-Pacific region.
