The Cockaigne Ski Center situated in the western part of New York was forced to shut down after the ski area lost its main lodge in a fire that affected it last month only. The Austrian Pavilion, the landmark lodge of the Cockaigne Ski Center was destroyed by the fire on January 24. According to sources, the management of the well-known ski center said that the skiing slopes will once again be made open for the public will from February 2. The Cockaigne Ski Center’s main lodge was damaged last week after a late night fire broke out causing the wooden structure to be burnt badly. The famous wooden landmark lodge of the Cockaigne Ski Center is actually Austrian in origin and was brought to America after Cockaigne purchased it in 1965, a year after it was built in Austria for the 1964 World’s Fair held in New York.
