ph2010061604580 Vermont, Jun 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Vermont City is under a cloud because of a cat leash law, which stipulates that the feline creatures ought to be kept on leashes. The friends and the foes of the feline creatures were standing by their hard stance on the leash law.

The Vermont City officials were getting numerous complaints from residents, about the cats who were littering in the gardens of other people. There was a Barre City Council meeting too, in this regard and it also drew a lot of protests from those people who haven’t kept the cats as pets, but have to put up with their littering.

The laws of the city state an ordinance, which was drafted in 1973, which totally bans roaming cats, however the ban has never been taken seriously until now. Barre resident Sue Higby is against the leash law for cats, and said that it is “a bad idea … unless you want to have the police department chasing cats around for a million dollars an hour.”

The Mayor of the Vermont City – Thomas Lauzon said that he would be interested in implementing a compromise formula, that would please both sides. He was interested in drafting a compromise ordinance, that would stipulate the cats to wear a collar with their owner’s name on it. He also added that the cat collars would also need to state when they had their last rabies shot.
